BEST SUPPORT FOR A GAME OR SUPPLEMENT, 2005

This is a unique and very subjective Sub-Award. It goes to the designer who displayed the best support of their 2005 published game or supplement. This could be through the creation of forums or mailing lists about their game, their response times to questions about their games, the designer's use of marketing to get the word out about their game, the organization of the game's website, and of course support materials like free downloads, rules, starter kits, materials, adventures and supplements.

For the 2005 games, this one had a clear leader with over three times the points of the next one. As an example of support: Chad Underkoffler couldn't be at Gen Con 2006 to pick up his award or represent his game directly, but just for running a T&J event he mailed a packet with a free copy of the game for the winner along with a pile of coupons, an award certificate and flyers, and other stuff. It is this level of commitment which makes games accessible and fun to everyone.

RUNNERS UP:

With Great Power... by Michael S. Miller / with 19 points

"One of the amazing things about WGP is the feedback and responses that went into it, and the attention to the numerous forms used in play by the game. This game has evolved from the preview to full edition with attention to the people actually playing."

Cold Space by Clash Bowley / with 19 points

"A beautiful product for a beautiful setting. Science fantasy (in the Arthur C. Clarke sense) meets Cold War intrigue."

Breaking the Ice by Emily Care Boss / with 18 points

"ECB has been great about promoting the game. I picked it up with a box of chocolates for the Valentine's Day special."

Polaris by Ben Lehman / with 18 points

"One of the best things is the excellent aids provided with the game online -- the flowchart of statements, the evocative character sheets, and the appendices of names and qualities which can be printed out and passed around the table."

Burning Sands: Jihad by Luke Crane / with 15 points

"Luke is inhuman in his support of not only his own games, but all indie games."

The Mountain Witch by Timothy Kleinert / with 13 points

"Not only is the game itself brilliant, but it is supported by a demo kit and responsive clarifications and support from the author."
